Welcome to the Purple Hafla Page

he Purple Haflas are run by the Shimmy Armageddon Belly Dance Troupe to raise funds for
charities which to date have included Macmillan Cancer Support and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We also raise funds by way of our Dance Tours and with The Biggest Bra project.

Our first Purple Hafla in 2007 was held at The Post Mill Centre in South Normanton for our friend and fellow belly dancer Lynne Stevens who sadly passed away in 2008. We knew that it would be her last party so we did it in style with dancers coming from all over the UK to perform and raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Hafla was a huge success and as Purple was Lynne's favorite colour we continued with the theme in 2009 with The Big Purple People Party, in 2010 with the Purple Pandemonium Party and in 2013 with The Purple Hafla, again in memory of Lynne and also in memory of a fellow dancer and teacher Maureen Jeffries whose favorite colour was also purple.

We believe that Haflas should be a night of Fun and Happiness and we can hink of no better way of celebrating this than to dance with our friends. The links below are to photo albums of all our Haflas to date.

"If I can't be here to dance with you all, I will be dancing with you in Spirit"
